I'm Arryn Vogan, the artist behind The Clay House Studio, and I'm so glad you are here.  I'm married to my college sweetheart and we have four wild and hilarious boys in our wolf pack.  I have been in business since 2010 and love the whole creating process.  I love being a part of the handmade, slow-made movement.  Each of my pieces are made with care and detail.  Even in small batch production, a thrown ware has its own uniqueness.  I love incorporating other art mediums as well as artists and hope you find that here. 

 

I graduated from Houghton College in 2009 with a BA in fine arts and a concentration in ceramics.  It was at Houghton that I began to study the crystalline glazing method and I have been doing it ever since.  During the firing process actual crystals grow in the glaze forming these incredible, floral-like, patterns.  Each firing comes out completely different and I can never quite estimate how the crystals will grow or where on the pot they will form.  Every time I open up the kiln is a surprise.  I have been studying and developing the crystalline glaze method since 2007 and I don't plan on stopping!
